Catholic Soccer Advances to Final Four
Springfield Catholic advanced to the Final Four for the second time in three years with a 3-1 victory over Marshall in the state quarterfinals on November 15th, 2025.
Luke Butler scored the initial goal just minutes into the first half. A controversial red card issued to an Irish defender late in the first half put them down a man for the remainder of the game. Early in the second, Marshall took their 11 vs 10 advantage to earn a goal tying at 1-1.
A handball called against Marshall in the box sent Matthew Gerety to the line for a PK that he drained to go up 2-1. As the momentum shifted, junior Tyler Holum placed the final dagger for an Irish 3-1 victory.
Springfield Catholic will face Harrisonville at 5:00pm on Friday, November 21st at World Wide Technology Soccer Park in Fenton, MO in the Class 2 State Semifinals.
