Irish golfers claim Class 3 District 6 title

CARL JUNCTION, MO — The Irish boys golf team traveled to Carl Junction on Monday to compete in the Class 3 District 6 championships. The tournament was played at Briarbrook Golf Course (Par 72, 5,965 yards). The top two teams and 15 individuals qualify for the MSHSAA Sectional tournament in Marshfield on Monday, May the 7th. 

The Irish were coming off a 3rd place finish in 2017 that did not allow the team to advance to sectional play, but 2018 woud be a different story. The team shot a 322, 24-strokes better than 2017. The 322 placed the team atop the District 6 leader board and 22 strokes better than 2nd Place finisher, Monett High School. 

The Irish were lead by Senior, Nick Palmer who also tied for medalist in the 51-player field. This district team title is the 10th for Springfield Catholic and their 4th in 6-years. Individual results are as follows:

78 Nick Palmer, Medalist
79 Walker Tynes, 3rd Place
81 Walker Serrano, 5th Place
84 Michael Zolfaghari, 8th Place
96 Dane Puckett

The team will advance to Sectional play on May 7th in Marshfield, MO. The top two teams and 12 individuals will qualify for the MSHSAA Class 3 state championships at Old Kinderhook in Camdenton, MO on May 14th & 15th.
