Irish cruise past Willard in Blue & Gold quarter-finals

The Irish faced off with a scrappy Willard team that beat Aurora in the first round of Blue & Gold bracket play. The jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead but the Tigers faught back to end the 1st quarter at 13 apiece. The Irish lost the lead briefly in the beginning of the 2nd quarter but outpaced Willard throughout the remainder of the 2nd, stretching the lead to 10 points by halftime. 

At the beginning of the 3rd the Irish looked to cool off, gatheing a flurry of fouls in the process. The Tigers were able to cut the lead to 4 midway through the 3rd but a Jake Branham 3-pointer ignited an Irish rally would stretch that lead to 54-38 by the end of the 3rd. The 3rd quarter had been a problem for the Irish in recent games but this wasn't the case tonight. The Irish poured in 22 points in the 3rd, led by Charlie O'Reilly's 10 points. 

The Irish continued finished the game strong adding another 17 points in the 4th and the best defensive outing of the year only allowed Willard three 4th quarter points. 

The balanced attack of the Irish saw four players scoring in double figures (Charlie O'Reilly 18, Michael Manzardo 17, Ian Cochran 16, and Jake Branham 13).  The Irish were led in rebounding by Brett Maes who led in rebounding for the second straight game and finished with 9.
