Hancock named coach of the year by Springfield Quarterback Club

SPRINGFIELD, MO — The Springfield Quarterback club held its annual gathering on Monday at the Elk's Lodge to recognize local gridiron athletes and coaches for their 2017 season. The club extends awards to local Seniors each year for the All-City lineman, All-City back, the Bill Wainwright All-City MVP, and the Wayne Reed Memorial Coach of the Year. The 2017 award winners were as follows:

Lineman of the Year – Ben Grandon, Parkview
Back of the Year – Josh Powell, Hillcrest
Bill Wainwright MVP – Alex Huston, Glendale
Wayne Reed Coach of the Year – Steve Hancock, Catholic

Coach Hancock was the 38th recipient of the Coach of the Year award and the first Springfield Catholic coach to receive the honor since Bobby Cornelison received the award in 2009.
